*This is sorta old news, but it's still an important conversation NOT to have.

Hillary Rodham Clinton supports the flag burning amendment!!!!! Not only does she support it, she's pushing for it. For the moment we will forget that this is purely a political act. But I must say right now that if you support such an amendment we are not friends. If I don't know you, that's fine, stop reading. If I do know you, stop reading and never speak to me again. Why you ask? WHY?!??!!?!?!?!? BECAUSE IT'S RETARDED!!!!!!!!!

I suppose I must explain. There are many reasons why this amendment is retarded. Hopefully many are self-evident. If not I'll list many...
1) America is based on freedom. America is the idea of a government composed by and composed for the people. Given that this system revolves around the people, those same people (that's you) have the right to protest (speak) against their government. Usually this takes form in speech, or actions (if necessary burning a flag). This protection, the First Amendment, is what makes America what it is. It maintains the link between the government and its people. It allows the people to express themselves in any way that isn't harmful. Included in that is the burning of the flag. To maintain the whole system (protection of speech which protects the link between the government and the people) we must include all forms or non-dangerous speech INDCLUDING THE BURNING OF THE FLAG. If you're thinking that such an act may ignite a riot and would thus endanger people you're fucking retarded and go read texas v. johnson. The fact that protecting such distateful forms of speech as flag burning is necessary to maintain the whole of the first amendment (and thus the whole Constitution) is significant only because it explains why a flag burning amendment shouldn't be passed. But there is a big fat reason why the damn thing shouldn't even be discussed....It's sucking away the conversation....
2) Right now the death toll in Iraq is over 2,000. The death toll for Iraqis is between 25-50k. These deaths linger over the fact that the entire war was perpetuated by, at the best, an exaggeration of intelligence, at worst, a lie. Millions are homeless because our domestic failures (most recently Katrina) and winter has arrived. That is coupled with a growing prison population, foreign policy disasters across the globe, and the looming problems with our polution. BUT, do we talk about these problems? Not really. What have you been hearing about lately? Michael Jackson, some missing girl, school vouturs, and (my favorite) HAPPY HOLIDAYS V. MERRY CHRISTMAS (proof of our stupidity). These are all HUGE FUCKING RED HERRINGS!!!! America can totally avoid these large, crushing problems because they can focus on this bonehead shit. Should we say happy holidays or merry christmas??? Well the flag burning amendment is in this vein. I mean is it really a problem!? Would the country be a better place with this amendment? NOOOOOOOO YOU RETARD!!!! Yet, we're discussing it.
And Hillary, who I will not vote for in the primaries, is bringing to the national forefront. WHY DON'T WE GET IT!!!!

I hate America. If this amendment is passed I can't wait to violate it. Oh yeah, if the NSA is reading this I hope you enjoyed the grammatical mistakes.
